Brief history and sociology

The kitsune people have never truly adapted to civilization. The largest groups you will ever find will be a small tribe. Most do not mate for life but will settle down in their later life into hermitages or monasteries where they will record their tales and dish out wisdom. There are rumors of a great Kitsune Queen who ruled over a might kingdom hidden in the vast valley systems of Ferrian. The tales change depending on who tells it but what they all agreed upon was that the kingdom was only accessible to those who bore a special mark and that the queen kept a seris of villages where trade and negotiations could be conducted. The kingdom, according to the tales, never fell but when the queen lead her host to help win the great war she cast a spell that caused the people and the land to be held in a mystical cell where the rest of the world could need reach it. Some rumors say that if you attain the highest of peaks in the warmest time of the year you can see into the great kingdom as it rests on clouds in the sky only to be reached by those of the nine tails. Children will often spend their adolescent with either thief mother or father until they just decide one day to depart on their own. As youths they tend to be social and excitable about new things and discoveries. They have no dislike of civilization just no interest or time in developing their own.
